FAQ

Initial Evaluation: You can expect to spend one hour with your physical therapist during your initial visit. This time will be spent reviewing your health history, medications, and goals for treatment, as well as learning about your condition and how physical therapy can help. A physical assessment will be completed, which will evaluate symptoms, physical limitations, mobility, and strength. A home safety and functional assessment will be conducted to evaluate the level of independence with gait, transfers, bed mobility, wheelchair mobility, and daily activities.

Follow-Up Visits: Depending on the plan of care established at the initial evaluation, treatment will consist of medical care management, manual therapy, restorative exercises, pain management, education, consultation, functional activities, and home exercise program development.

Virtual is when physical therapy is provided to a patient remotely via electronic communications to improve access to care. Typically, this is done via live, 2-way video conferencing with the patient remaining at home and the physical therapist working remotely.

Winslow Physical Therapy is a fee-for-service practice. This means we do not bill your insurance. If requested, you will be provided with a Superbill that you can submit to your insurance for any available out-of-network benefits. Please see the "Insurance Information/Determine Your Benefits" worksheet provided in the My Documents section in your patient portal. It will assist you in determining if and how your insurance company might reimburse you for out-of-network services.

Treatment plans are individualized based on the initial evaluation findings and compliance with recommended home programs. Some people are seen as frequent as 2x/week, and others 2x/month. It often depends on the complexity of each patient, overall conditioning, and the established goals between therapist and patient.

Winslow Physical Therapy is not a Medicare provider and, therefore, due to Medicare rules, cannot accept cash payment for physical therapy services from Medicare beneficiaries at this time. We do, however, provide non-physical therapy services such as fitness services, nutritional counseling, and wellness programs, as they are not restricted by Medicare coverage.

Physical therapy addresses patients with physical impairments related to an injury, disease, pre/post-surgery, or condition. Physical therapy wellness programs are a proactive service provided by a physical therapist with the goal of keeping you healthy and injury-free after your therapy is over or for someone who wants to attain a healthy lifestyle and avoid future injuries.

Click on the Schedule Now button, fill out the contact form, and submit. You will receive an email from [email protected] within 24 hours that contains a link to your personal patient portal. Follow the instructions in the email to complete scheduling, patient forms, and patient profile information.

Your appointment time is reserved just for you. A late cancellation or missed visit leaves a hole in the therapist's day that could have been filled by another patient. As such, we require 24-hour notice for any cancellations or changes to your appointment. Cancellations may be made through phone calls, patient portal messages, text messages, or email. Patients who provide less than 24-hour notice will be charged a cancellation fee of $75 for the first cancellation and $100 for the second cancellation. Patients who are "No-shows" for their appointment will be charged 100% of the scheduled appointment cost. If a patient/client exceeds three no-show appointments within their plan of care, they will no longer be allowed to pre-schedule appointments and will need to try to book "day of" appointments. We do also understand emergencies happen and certain life circumstances may be excluded from the above requirements on a case-by-case basis.
